Company data, people and shareholders for Austrian businesses

Overview

AiPrise verifies Austrian businesses against the Austrian Companies Register (Firmenbuch). A business verification returns the company profile, directors and legal representatives, shareholders, and the documents filed with the register.

Documents are ordered from the register after the verification and arrive later, so use callbacks instead of waiting on the verification response. These are typical times from production, not a service-level commitment: set timeouts well above them.

Statuses and legal forms

Every result carries the register's own status in registration_info.status and an AiPrise status in registration_info.normalised_status. The normalised status is one of Active, Suspended, Dormant, Dissolved / Struck Off, In Liquidation / Insolvency or Unknown.

Legal forms come back as the register writes them in entity_type, for example GmbH, GmbH & Co. KG, KG, OG and e.U..

Quirks and gotchas

  • Send the Firmenbuch number (FN) in business_entity_id, not the VAT number (ATU…). The VAT number is only for the VAT check.
  • Include the check letter at the end of the FN (123456a). It is part of the number.
  • The register returns no UBOs, so a UBO check needs the business's WiEReG extract as an uploaded document.
  • Sole traders listed in the Firmenbuch (e.U.) are covered. Sole traders with only a trade licence (GISA) are not.
  • Older legal forms still appear on long-standing companies, for example KEG (now KG).
  • Register extracts come in current or historical versions, each in German or English. Pick the one your reviewers need.

Limits

  • UBOs are not returned. Collect them with the business's UBO extract (WiEReG-Auszug) as an uploaded document.
  • Articles of association and annual accounts come back only when the company has filed them with the register.
  • Associations (Vereinsregister / ZVR) and sole traders (GISA) are not covered.
