Quirks and gotchas

Country-specific behaviour to know before you integrate.

QuirkDetails
Send the KVK number, not the VAT numberThe Dutch VAT number is a different number. Put the 8-digit KVK number in business_entity_id.
Roles are not normalisedRoles come back in Dutch, for example Bestuurder (director), Eigenaar (owner) and Enig Aandeelhouder (sole shareholder), with the normalised role UNKNOWN. Read the role name.
Many sole tradersAbout 1 in 4 businesses are sole traders (Eenmanszaak). The owner comes back as Eigenaar.
Shareholders only when soleThe register lists a shareholder only when one person or company holds all the shares (Enig Aandeelhouder).

Limits

  • UBOs are not returned.
  • Shareholders are returned only for companies with a sole shareholder.
