Overview

AiPrise verifies Indian businesses against the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) register, and small businesses against the Udyam MSME register. A business verification returns the company profile, directors and, for some companies, filed documents and a UBO report. GST numbers are checked separately.

Statuses and legal forms

Every result carries the register's own status in registration_info.status and an AiPrise status in registration_info.normalised_status. The normalised status is one of Active, Suspended, Dormant, Dissolved / Struck Off, In Liquidation / Insolvency or Unknown.

Legal forms come back as MCA writes them in entity_type, for example Private Limited Indian Non-Government Company and Limited Liability Partnership. Some results show a short form such as Private or Public.

Quirks and gotchas

Country-specific behaviour to know before you integrate.

Udyam has no status	Udyam registrations come back with the status `id_found`, which normalises to `Unknown`. About 1 in 8 results are Udyam registrations.
Cancelled GSTIN	A GST number that is found but cancelled is not treated as a pass.
Shareholding categories	Shareholders often come back as categories (`promoter`, `Individual`, `Domestic Institution`), normalised to `UNKNOWN`, not as named people.
Struck-off companies are flagged	A struck-off or otherwise inactive MCA status adds a warning to the result.

Limits

Documents and the UBO report come back for about 1 in 10 companies.
Udyam registrations return a profile only.
