Company data, directors, secretaries and shareholders for Australian businesses
Overview
AiPrise verifies Australian businesses against the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) company register. A business verification returns the company profile, directors, company secretaries and shareholders. Businesses known only by their Australian Business Number (ABN) return a profile.

Statuses and legal forms
Every result carries the register's own status in registration_info.status and an AiPrise status in registration_info.normalised_status. The normalised status is one of Active, Suspended, Dormant, Dissolved / Struck Off, In Liquidation / Insolvency or Unknown.
| Register status | Normalised status |
|---|---|
| Registered | Active |
| Active | Active |
| Deregistered | Dissolved / Struck Off |
| Cancelled | Dissolved / Struck Off |
| Not Registered | Unknown |
Legal forms come back in entity_type as ASIC writes them, for example Australian Proprietary Company Limited By Shares and Australian Public Company Limited By Shares.
Quirks and gotchas
Country-specific behaviour to know before you integrate.
| Quirk | Details |
|---|---|
| ACN or ABN | Send the 9-digit ACN for a company. An 11-digit ABN also works. About 1 in 10 results are ABN records only: status Active, no legal form and no officers. |
| Deregistered companies have no officers | About 1 in 5 results are deregistered companies. They come back without directors or shareholders. |
| Secretaries are legal representatives | Company secretaries come back with the normalised role LEGAL_REPRESENTATIVE. |
| Ownership from share counts | When the register gives share counts but no percentage, the ownership percentage is calculated from the total shares. |
Limits
- UBOs and register documents are not returned.
- Officers and shareholders are returned for registered companies only.
